Are link ups really worth it? |

It's not a route anyway - its a 1m link-up. Hardly worth claiming anyway. I added it to the guide as i did it.
If someone else want to keep going to the top - then go for it.

How gracious of you - it's not "your" (or anyone's) route.
There's about 300 1m link ups in Dogger's Gully that are described as routes. So you wouldn't claim The Lord Of The Rings ? or Gridlock or gridlac ? Or Dave's Punks linkup ? Or about 500 variations at Nowra ?
And it's a better way to do Invisible Fist which just runs out of places to go and has a high last clip as its crux. Fuggit, your comment doesn't make sense given the number of quality linkups out there (and which makes your recommendation earlier in this hypocritical), but I'm too fat to care.

But if Neil feels it's so worthless, why did he go and stick a f&%^ing bolt in it ?

In Kent's defense, at least his new route From the Ritz to the Rubble offers 25 metres of new climbing rather than a two move link up...
Tiapan wall, the next Doggers Gully!

Yeah Neilo, leave KP out of this, you must just still be angry you had to do a 160Km detour Via stapylton to pick the poor boy up. (No way its that far by the way!!!!)
As for your route neilo, Its looks quite fun and I would have been most impressed if youd done it without the bolt, i just think it detracts from invisible fist.

I second Phil_Nev. Nowhere in this post or his new route thread has Kent said a disparaging remark about your route Neil!

Red Rocks to Stapylton = 75km (thats one hour of driving AWAY from Melbourne). We had planned to
drive home south via Dunkeld since the Vic Valley Rd was closed.
anyway back to this highly amusing topic...

Aw, com'on guys, have you heard of the term 'what are friends for?'
or does the formula go something more like this?
Friends = same climbing agenda
Friends = when you're desperate for a climb
Friends = when you're desperate for a belayer
Friendships do not equal anything else ie:
Friends (does not) = helping each other out when they're in need
Friends (does not) = helping each other out when they've f$^*#^ck up
Friends (does not) = helping out when you've lost the plot, going through a midlife crisis
further examples are welcome...
Is it really an inconvenience to drive a certain distance to pick up a 'friend' who's stranded? Do a friend a favour....
Besides, it's better to be in your car Neilo (the machete wielding maniac) than in some strangers car....
Back to topic... I've never been to Taipan, but looking forward to the day I can crank hard enough to climb there and more importantly when I find some climbing friends that I trust to give a good belay, friends who will support me and give encouragement... friends who look out for me and generally I'll be going there with friends who I really do consider friends.
Why taint such a beautiful place with anything less?

Anyone who climbs with me knows i am not the most patient and laid back person. There is more to the
car story that doesn't need to be discussed on this forum.

The situation wouldn't have happened if a certain person had a drivers license. Lucky the Neil Taxi Co
was on call.
