Alas, I can't do the 23rd. I'll still be running the gym that night. Heading up during the day of the 24th. I've got family/christmassy things on the 25 & 26th but I might mozey on out and have a perv on the 27th if anyone is up for a second visit.

Re: Dalai's post on page 1
Which "amazing arete" was this...the one near the start of Joseph Young Drive (coming from the north) - right on the roadside...?

Yes, the striking arete facing the road V8 - FA I think in the end was by Simon Weill. Not sure of the name. The shorter clean cut arete to it's left is ~V5. The back shaded arete left again I think was around V2

Yes, that's the one. It's a fantastic problem. I knew Simon had climbed it (he showed it to me) but couldn't remember if he did the FA or not. I live in Castlemaine and have been slowly exploring the mountain for problems.

Hey! Sorry to bump this thread after so long but I just got back to work after a great climbing holiday down in Tassie.
I can attest that the Barjarg bouldering area definately has some potential. It's the best granite bouldering I have found in Vic. I was planning to get back out there and take some topo photos but ran out of time.
Here is a vid Owen took of me climbing an un-named problem. I think I fell on the last move on this one but got it later.

Nice one Climbaholic.
I was beginning to think my video would never get posted to chockstone.
Hope your Tassie trip was Awesome.
The bouldering around Barjarg is definitely worth checking out. And also I am sure there
are other areas in the surrounding forests just packed with boulders so a bit of exploring
would probably pay off too.

The moss on the boulders has grown heaps after the rain a while back. Water is dripping off the moss after rain aswell. Id still go though.

I'm considering a day trip next weekend provided the weather isn't unfavourable.

Na some are but most are ok. A mat would be good to have though. I could show you some classic boulders and projects if you want.
