Yes this is a bit of spam. But I think Steve deserves it, after all he does support Chockstone.

Either way that's an great price. It still amazes me the price some second hand goods are selling for in here when you can buy new for $65.

Discuss or flame the spammer.....

(in no way am I connected to Steve/RockHardware, and he has nothing to with this spam)

Damn that's a good price.
Its worth noting Steve always has good prices and is extremely helpful (as many will attest to). I rang him up a while back about ice axes and without hesitation, he immediately asked and matched the best price I'd seen.

The .4 is pretty good value too... And the 6 pack with biners...

Well, it's because this is probably the first time they've been sold for such a cheap price here in Australia. Way back in 2006 i was paying around this price by buying them from the states. Show me $250 60m single ropes and i'll be even more amazed.

But good to see that retailers (and wholesalers too, help this i'm sure) are finally coming to the party.

Steve's got a ferw on his stock list: http://www.rockhardware.com.au/Order.asp?Action=Group&MainGroup=Ropes&Category=Dynamic%2060M%20Standard

So do climbing anchors:

$239.95: http://www.climbinganchors.com.au/products/Tendon-Ambition-10-60m-Standard.html
$224.95: http://www.climbinganchors.com.au/products/Edelrid-Cobra-10.3-60m.html
$229.00: http://www.climbinganchors.com.au/products/Beal-Yuji-10-60m.html

I was going to link to them but I realised there were almost a dozen 60m ropes here under $250 and I CBF: http://www.climbinganchors.com.au/categories/Climbing-Equipment/Ropes-%252d-Static-and-Dynamic/Dynamic-Ropes/60m-Single-Ropes/

Thins brings back memories from when paddies dropped the price on BD gear and got their asses kicked BIG time....it's thanks to that episode of Pete and Jen Lane that we (you I mean, i'm in Canada now) can now buy from everyone else...

The wholesale price is damn close to this, Steve isn't making a cent and I can't see it lasting, and my God will that piss off the rest of the retailers.

This will be good to watch....

I think Phil has some 60m ropes for $219.

Really, prices in Australia aren't that bad anymore if you look around.

yeah right.
how about gear that sells for 1/2 the price in the states compared to Australia, without even being on sale.

but the main problem is with the importer, not necessarily the retail shops.

Mountain equipment in Sydney has the old Wild Country Tech Friends for $65 atm, including a racking biner. That's actually on par with e.g. gearexpress.com even discounting shipping. Nah you can get em on sale everywhere overseas for cheaper.

But it's way better than it used to be. It's not hard to find ropes, cams, biners etc at a price that makes it not worth the postage and bother of ordering from the states. I bought my grigri2 and offsets from rockhardware for exactly the same price as the US stores. You could get BD oz q/draws at us prices there too. I bought a rope from climbing anchors for sub $180. I didn't buy the $219 rope from Phil because I got it with my goatfest prize :)

I got most of my medium cams in Oz for around that price 4 months ago. A bit more for the bigger ones. The sales we have here can just match the states, including convenience as a factor. But the sale prices in the US are just too good not to wait for.

Steve is a good guy, always provided frank and honest advice, good service.
Support him, and Dr Phil at Nattie - or these guys will go out of business. At these prices it is also just not worth sending in from overseas.

+ 1 , and include Steve Hawkshaw for ropes and bolting hardware in that list too.
