Not only are they still selling the infamous $79 Acteryx beanie but now the Cliffhanger shop is selling the Yates Big Wall Rack, which retails in the states for around $90, for a whopping $449.

Now I can understand a bit of a mark up but what the fuch is that about?

Do people actually buy stuff from them?

Looking at the weight, that's almost a dollar a gram: http://www.cliffhanger.com.au/product/big-wall-gear/yates-big-wall-rack.php

Funny stuff. The Neutrino 6 pack: 110 AUD
get it in the states for 39.95 USD.

But seriously, the big wall rack must be some kind of mistake.

Ya think?

That's what I thought about the $79 beanie.

Let's have a beer on it, egosan.

Yeah man $79 for a beanie is a bit stiff. And that rack is ridiculous, ahh well good luck to them if they can move it LOL. But you can not really compare prices from the states to here, it just doesn't work.

Anything arcteryx is extremely expensive. Take a look at one of their packs..... for $1000.
Shopping from cliffhanger is good with the 20% vcc discount and no delivery fee.

Too bad there isn't enough mountaineering gear unlike Rock hardware or Bivouac.

I buy stuff from the states all the time. So do lots of other climbers.

$90 US is about $100 Aus. Even if they charged $100 postage, which they wouldn't, you'd be saving $250.

Damn you, wallwombat. I owe you a beer. That is the correct price. I won't paste in the email exchange. They can defend themselves here if they like.

I get to Sydney every couple months. If you get down to Victoria any time soon, let me know other wise, you can have your beer in May.

Cheers,
Sol

What is wrong with you people? Which part of "Severley understated coolness" don't you get?

http://www.cliffhanger.com.au/product/Clothing/arcteryx-classic-beanie.php

It's even got "four dart construction" FFS

If you left the price tag on it you'd have "Severely overstated wankerness"

But what shops in the US deliver to Australia? Not gear express from memory.
Backcountry?
(That said, postage from UK needlesports would get you all this at a fraction of the cost)

I had a mate pay $350 for a vest at cliffhanger.. Not some super cool, ultra protective, doubles as a harness type thing, but a basic fleece vest.... Eeee so 449... Someone will buy it...
