I'm planning a trip to the bungles, i contacted the visitor center and it appears that the CMA Warrumbungles national park tourist map is no longer available as it is been out of print and discontinued.

I am able to purchase a Tooraweenah 8635 (1:50 000) topo online, it covers most of the climbing areas, but I would ideally like to get the CMA map, more detail and the Sydney Rockcliming guide refers to it with grid references etc.

Anyone willing to part with one? I am in Katoomba.

Please PM me if interested.

Cheers,
Rob

You can download a print the maps you know.

A couple of options include using any of the following websites, selecting the right layer, screen shot and stiching together your own custom map
https://geo.seed.nsw.gov.au/Public_Viewer/index.html?viewer=Public_Viewer&locale=en-AU
https://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/
https://maps.ozultimate.com/?lat=-31.31&lng=148.96&zoom=10

You can use the in built tool for the older version of ozulimate's maps to export higher quality maps without too much faffing around.
http://maps.ozultimate.com/archive/08_print/#

Or you can download straight from the source all these map websites use and get vectorized maps... in your case the relevant files are
http://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/etopo/geopdf/50k/8635-N%20TENANDRA.pdf
http://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/etopo/geopdf/50k/8735-N%20BUGALDIE.pdf
http://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/etopo/geopdf/50k/8635-S%20TOORAWEENAH.pdf
http://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/etopo/geopdf/50k/8735-S%20COONABARABRAN.pdf
(The Warrumbungles are annoyingly in the corner of four separate maps)

Thanks that would be great! Perhaps if it's not too much of a pain a photo of the entire map, and also of each quarter (5 photos all up). It is probably overkill for climbing but i'll be sorted should i do any off track/overnight bushwalks in the future.

I'll PM you my number.

Cheers

@ robbio - done.

@ ET - that's magic info, thanks for that as I'm likely to use it for other trip planning purposes!

Unless you are really exploring you don't need a real map. Once on route be fully prepared to be off route, or think youíre off route and actually on it.
Have fun. Bluff mountain must be up there on best crag in the country.

I was in Alpsport on Victoria Rd in Ryde yesterday and pretty sure they had a couple of copies of that tourist Warrumbungles map.

It's pretty big scale though and only gives you a very basic idea of the peaks and approaches. Personally I wouldn't bother with it.

Can anyone confirm if the old guides and photocopies are still in the hut?

It's three years since I was there in Balor Hut but I don't remember seeing any guidebook/photocopies.

There were some scungy remnants of guides in the hut on one of the bunks last time we were there (April 2018). Not really what you would want to depend upon.

The NPWS office at Camp Blackman used to have copies of the original guides for perusal ...

I agree with jrc though, because thereís a degree of inaccurate information in them that requires a user degree of self reliance and respect!
Personally I donít mind that when it comes to the Ďbungles, because it maintains the adventure component, and in my experience, for the most part they donít need to accurately depict every hand and foothold, as the routes are often climbable by still being Ďonlineí within a broad brush swath!
