ok - to appease everyone (hopefully) there is now a 'disable for sale topics on home page' option in each users profile setting. If you don't want to see them click this button. The default setting is to show them.

Just thinking of new visitors experience, why not make them disabled by default so as to keep a clean front page?

I just have one silly question.

How the hell do I change any preferences, I can't find any sort of settings page.

Found it!

I think this is the best option. I largely don't bother going beyond the front page unless I'm specifically searching for something. But like many I wouldn't mind seeing the occasional For Sale item there too.

A separate For Sale section on the front page about three threads long would work well in my opinion.

Because then they wouldn't know what they are missing. Best to have a disable feature - rather than a new user having to discover what they have never had several years later.

"I also feel animal sacrifices have a positive effect on global warming/cooling as the fewer animals around to pollute, the better for us all."

Funny, I'm a psychopathic cannibal for the same reason.

Thanks Neil and Mike, for listening to the masses and working to accommodate all. At this point in time the excitement of Chocky, and the random argy bargy within, is a source of enjoyment in an otherwise interesting time of my life.

'For sale'

All types of gear that you may want.
Generally 40% above smart buyers market price.

Pay upfront and I'll get it to you in about three weeks.

Thanks in advance for supporting by climbing habit by being lazy or stupid.

Let it go. You've said your piece. You've got them to implement a feature so you can completely ignore it. If people want to be 'stupid' let them be 'stupid'.

Ditto.

Bizzare fast turnaround. Anything IT related where I work requires a project sponsor and a project manager.

Anyway you sql folk wanna laugh....I have a question for you: How many days would you need to write code to extract a csv file from a database with no/minimal data manipulation (do NOT include project management time in your guess).

closest answer wins something - prolly a nut size of your choosing.
