Doctor says I can get back into light climbing as rehab for my broken shoulder so after A light session in the gym in the week it was out to Sublime Point to get back on Sweet dreams as the first out door escapade to mark getting back on the rock after 3 days- AMAZING day today just perfect

Stoked that I have a work-related reason to be in California later this month (read: they'll pay for it) but have time to tack a wedding and a few days in Yosemite on the side of it. Time to dust off the tape gloves...

Stoked that the Aussies just squeaked home against SA in the rugby. We squandered a sizeable lead and looked like losing till an after the siren 55m penalty goal, to snatch it 41 to 39; so are now 2nd in the tri-nations comp.

Also stoked that every available water tank & paddock dam locally is overflowing, and it is still raining. The 100 + mm BOM predicted for this area this weekend was right!

Stoked the internet is again working, as the provider has been offline (overloaded?), all day.

Oh wow, i turned it off after seeing they'd got above 30 to 10 or something. figured it was all over.

Getting very tired of such late broadcasts though, its really made lose interest in rugby.

Yeah, I thought like many South Africans, that Australia had lost with about 15 minutes to go, but the last 10 minutes see-sawed while one Aussie was in the penalty bin, and was very entertaining.
Late broadcast? It was early!! Heh, heh, heh.

Hollow mountain area. I have only walked over hollow moutain and then down past lower taipian and then over flat rock. Might check out HMC and andersens and who knows where else it all looks so crankable. Organic pads did look very nice, especialy that Italian flag one but well Jason Kehl is sponsered by Revolution last time i looked and well he is very awsome.

I saw something a little different while climbing yesterday.
I find that it is always a satisfying thing to arrive at topout of a pitch and use up the last of the gear carried to set the belay, i.e. being akin to nicely matching the resources to the task at hand.
While seconding a climb and nearing the topout (with the belay still out of my sight), my belayer says to me that he used everything and did not have any gear left over.
I thought this a little unusual due the climb being less than a full ropelength, but I then started rabbiting on how I had done similar in the past and that it often involves chaining gear together to make an equalised belay point out of spread anchor pieces.
Once topped out I could clearly see he had done this, including using his prusik loops, but soon after to my surprise when I broke the belay down, I found the chain of pieces consisting of about six pieces of medium to large gear on one arm of it, was in fact clipped to the anchoring piece being only a size 3 offset RP !!!
~> The image of seeing a line of large gear leading to an invisible in the crack, minor piece, stoked my sense of visual intrigue...

And I was stoked to have just enough to make a decent belay!
And even more stoked to be out climbing in such a great place!!!

Thanks Mark and Rod for a great day.
Apologies to those that I did not catch up with whilst in the area. :(
