Mento is a type of jamaican music, essentially the fore-runner of ska, and hence the great grandaddy of reggae, dub, dancehall etc.

The best example of booty tech type stuff is Sydney producer Deepchild. Its a kind of electro/disco kind of vibe.

Yeah, mento, noice. But what is nu-jazz? a separate style or just some musos desperate not to be labelled as boring old jazz players?

A little from column a, a little from column b. Best description I can come up with is jazz influenced dance music. It can also include elements from hip hop and generally uses weird broken beats.

...a fusion of chilled-electronic-type stuff & jazz. St Germaine, Dimitrie are pretty well known exponents.
There's some real cool stuff put out by Blue Note (not just nu-jazz though).

You know, there's nothing like a nice glass of Absinthe to help one iron ones 5 shirts for the week whilst listening to one of Brians' more accessible works - Another Green World is the current fave.

You just don't need any other records.

Another Eno fan.

But for outdoor climbing the only appropriate musical accompaniment is John Cage's 4'33"

has anyone mentioned the benefits of joy division, radiohead and early cure as pre-send motivation music? I find that a quick flick through some depressing stuff allows me to really concentrate on how much I'll hate myself if I fail to redpoint my project. reallly helps me hang on harder. i think it's just swell.

Yeah but only at trad crags with the tinkle of hexs and bongs to punctuate the essential silence . . .
I find Zappa on an iPod ideal - but not all believe that 'Humor belongs in Climbing'.
Eric Horst PodCasts are great for pre-climb mental conditioning also.

Go Down
Artist(Band):AC/DC

Ruby, Ruby, where you been so long?
Don't stop drinking whiskey baby since you been gone
Ain't no one I know do it as good as you
Licking on that licking stick the way you do
You got the lips to make a strong man weak and a heathen pray
Givin' you the jump it ain't the way you speak, Lord it's just the way
Go down
Mary, Mary, you're the one for me
And the way you hum, sting like a bumble bee bzzzz
I'll be around to see you about, about half past ten
Ain't felt this good since I don't know when
You got the touch that I need so much in your finger tips
I got honey what you love to taste on those lovely lips
So go down
Oh baby, rub it on
It's still as sweet,
It's been so long
And no else got a touch like you
I let you do the things to me
that no other women do
It feels good, it feels good, oh yeah
Girl you do it like you should (?)
I loved it so much
You make me glad I'm a man
Go down !!!!
