Good to re-read this classic tale, but but it should be mentioned that Fatboy never packed on the pounds like his moniker suggests. Fatboy not only managed to qualify for the Hawaiian Ironman a few years ago (no easy feat), he then competed and managed a time of around 9-and-a-half hours. The effort and commitment (not to mention the support from his family) required to achieve that little goal would far outweigh any of his pussy ticks from his climbing career.
And it probably won't be long until his son is climbing and so he will get a second chance to hang out at Araps and talk it up even more than he did.

That's pretty cool actually. 9.5hr Ironman is a very solid result and would have taken a ton of training to get there.
