Well there obviously isn't any sort of balance here at all. This is very likely just the start of a series of Arapiles bans that will likely cover most of the mount. Why wouldn't it? They're just starting with the crags closest to the camp sites first. Parks seem to have no genuine interest in actually assessing crags for cultural heritage or trying to come up with any sort of workable compromise - just slap on total bans left, right and centre and then drag their feet forever. At this rate it will take me months to get back into shape if the ridiculous lockdown ever ends. By then there will be absolutely nowhere worthwhile to go climbing.

GWRN posted this message yesterday:

Regarding the closures at Tiger Wall at Dyurrite/Arapiles announced on Thursday, GWRN has since received an email from Barengi Gadjin Land Council (BGLC) asking us to share this message through our networks:
"Naturally, the closure under the Set-Aside mechanism of such a large area will be cause for concern for many climbers, and the underlying message we would like to convey is that we intend to undertake the assessments as quickly as possible with the view to potentially reintroducing climbing in locations that don’t conflict with site protection."

In all this bullshit - especially on the cesspool of Facebook - I think the quiet work of GWRN has been better for our cause than all the grandstanding and outrage.

Thank you GWRN.

I hope you are all enjoying your free introductory offer to the socialism/communism. There are no freedoms in the marxist globalist New World Order/ Great Reset or whatever you want to call it. If you didn't take heed to the warnings of George Orwell, and don't take notice of the recent loss of freedoms and who is really responsible, the political ideology behind all this, and continue to be useful idiots for the far left (and the indigenous peoples are being used just as much as anyone) you don't deserve access to our natural wilderness!

Unfortunately I can't see any way of changing things apart from at the ballot box.

Once a world destination, now there is no longer any reason to come to Victoria as a climber.

Can we keep this on topic? Start a new thread for your conspiracy theories.

FWIW, I think the way things have naturally evolved with GWRN building bridges directly with traditional owners, and VCC showing that we won't be pushed around by the incompetent bureaucrats at PV who haven't done their homework, is the best way of responding. We should support both efforts. Save Grampians Climbing is also doing an awesome job of compiling evidence and building awareness.

Thanks for reminding. Just renewed my VCC membership.
Thank you everyone for all your hard work on our behalf.
