in the climbing centre i hang out in we have many riders.
cagiva navigator
honda fireblade
kawasaki er5
honda vtr250 x 2
suzuki dr350
yamaha r1
suzuki sv650
suzuki gsxr 750 x2
suzuki tl1000
several others cant remember what types.
oh and the motorbike mags live next to the climbing mags

I can relate.
On the topic of old mags; ...have you ever noticed how second hand bookstores almost invariably have nil (or very small amount of), stock of 2nd hand bike or climbing mags?
~> It seems climbers and riders are the type who tend to hang on to their precious reading material.

Trad bikes come in interesting guise these days. In the case of Bonneys EFI with retro look-alike carbies. Good looking machines though, and by all accounts a sweet ride. I have several friends who ride them, a couple of whom are climbers, and with which I hope to catch up with at the next Blueys Climbing Festival. Did you spend the extra and get a tacho?

Sorry M9, I have the 07 not 08 (careless typing), still has real carbies. I have added the tacho, knee pads and panniers, adding to the looks factor.
The ride is sweet. but then again I am totally biased.

As most of us are; ... hence the incredible variety of riding machines out there.
The essence of the game is the common magnet for us though, and I think it is somewhat addictive.
I find that I am enjoying my riding more, and more as time goes on. Wet, cold, hot, dusty, gusty winds, night, slow, fast, tar, mud, whatever!; it is all good. The variety of my riding friends (from placid to manic), reflects this sentiment too.
Combining it with climbing is almost sensory overload.

insuremyride.com.au gives bloody good rates, with 25% discount for online insurance purchases. I'm only paying $700 a year (better than $1025 which was the lowest quote from any one else).

what climbing centre do you hang out at? wouldn't mind finding a bunch of climbers that are also keen on knee down action, either on track or along the putty/natio/old road...

Got the phone thingy sorted.

This was for five days including carrying water. Could easily extend the duration with dehydrated food etc.

Basically overkill but I was doing it in comfort with a 3 person tent etc.

Tent plus dribag containing bedding and extra clothing on pillion spot.
Topbox: clothing, wet weather gear, food.
Canvas panniers: Water, rack, rope, harness, shoes, heavy (tinned) food.
Tank bag: small items ~ day needs, spare tube, rubbish!

Haha, that's gold!

I've managed to get all my gear (60 m dynamic rope within rope bag, 15m static, quickdraws, 2 harnesses, biners, water, ascenders, prussiks, etrier) in to the standard military issue ruck sack (i think these are roughly 60 litres).

To anyone who has EVER wondered how they'd get their surfboard or boogey board to the beach on their 2 wheeler.... DON'T!!

I have trudged it with the boogey board on my back on the bike, and after about 50 km/hr, you're body starts lifting off out of the seat and in to the air...
Scares the f--- out of not just urself, but every other road user around you, lol.
Anyone that was around Altona (Vic) in 2006 or Sydney in 2004 would have plenty of pics on their mobile of a sexy lookin 954 being ridden by a dorky noob with a huge boogey board bag on his back and getting "hang time"...

I built a rack so I could take my mountain bike on the back of my motorbike. XC bike was OK. downhill bike was a bit too much though. get some interesting looks and havent ridden past a cop yet so not sure how legal it is though.
