Hi,
I along with Ammon and Kait am producing the film documenting the SA of Wings of Steel. Aside from the difficulty of the climb and controversy surrounding it, I as a filmmaker find this story compelling. We doing doing more than a climbing movie, as someone accurately pointed out to me watching aid climbing is like watching paint dry.

This is not an aid climbing movie, it's the story of lies, feuds, vandalism, ethics, egos and terrific personalities. There have been accusations of slander and even attempted murder. I hope you will support us in the making of this film through our kickstarter page. If you cannot help financially please post our link on your Facebook and Twitter pages so we can tell this story the way it needs to be told.

You're asking for charitable donations, so that you can make a film about aid climbing?

Ya know, after spending too long on a climbing trip, I often find that I have nothing to talk about other than climbing. However, I don't confuse this situation with the idea that climbing is really important.........it means its time to get a life.

"A story which needs to be told"?!?..................get a life

Jeff, no one answered my question at the taco stand so maybe you can. Will Mark and Richard be interviewed? I have a feeling they won't, and if that is the case, your film will be flawed and not worth watching, even more so now since a form of understanding has been reached between madbolter and many of the detractors....

Fish Boy,
We are making every attempt to have them on camera. Ultimately it is their decision, but the story can be told without them speaking, we DO have their book and they stand by it as truth. I agree climbing movies are dull, but adventure movies with humans pushed to the limits and the controversy that surround such adventure are good. We are interested in the latter.

Ammon has just finished an article that will be published in an American magazine. If you read that and still don't want to see the film, then adventure is not your thing.

I'm glad you are making attempts to have them on camera. The whole point of Ammon climbing this route (Kait did her 1st wall last year, don't keep hyping her up as being on a par with Ammon, that's a joke!) was to find out the truth behind Mark and Richards claims in the book. THAT is where the controversy and drama is. People chopped their route and shat on their ropes and slandered them for 29 years, so what some climbers want to know is was it somehow justified (I doubt it) or was it a hack job.

Adventure has nothing to do with reading a sponsored athlete's article in a magazine. Alpinist is the only one worth reading, so if it's in Rock and Ice or Climbing, I'll promise I wont touch it. I just moved half way across the world for nice rocks, so quit being a d!ck and calling me out. I'm the one who put the link here about your film, and your spam is certainly not wanted on chocky. How about I purchase your flick and throw it up on torrents for everyone to look at?

Stop commercializing WOS, Ammon used to post lot's of human stuff on the taco and now you've bought him out or he has sold out....

And all of this was directed at Mark and Richard who you are not sure will be on the film? Waste of time...

The only interest in WOS now is WTF is wrong with Mimi and Grossman?!?!?

Seems like some seppos have spent too many summers in 'the valleee', had their brains bbq'd, and firmly believe that;

a) dangling in slings for weeks on end to siege some non-line el cap is 'where its at'
b) the rest of the world is still looking over at that shit with envy and respect

In actual fact, everyone outside 'the valleee' realised a long time ago that hard aid is contrived and very, very boring. The continued self-delusion and the resulting antics are quite amusing to watch though.

Fish Boy, I sincerely apologize if I have offended you or this forum. That was not my intention. And This will be my last post. I am not interested in a forum exchange thats seems to be headed in a negative direction.

For the record, I am an independent filmmaker and a friend of Ammon and Kaits. We thought it would be a good idea to make a documentary about their climb. I have never intimated that Kait is on Ammon's level, but she is his partner of choice and his girfriend. I have to assume she is competant.

I have no influence over Ammon in any endevour he is involved in. We hang out once in ahwile and go climbing. Calling me names and threatenting the success of our film is uncalled for, but of course that is your choice.

Again I am sorry if I offended anyone with my posts, it was not my intention and I will refrain from further posts on this topic. But please, don't make accusations, assumtions or call people names, we mean no harm to anyone.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's just him. Looking forward to seeing the movie

"two of the world's best and boldest climbers" was taken from your website...

Sorry for saying I was going to torrent the film, that was pretty rude of me. I wouldn't do that, and I am interested in the film, however what I think most of the interested people want to know what the route is like NOW, and previously Ammon was very forthright and open on his ascents...now he is saying nothing because it will affect the commercial success of your film (in my opinion). That is influence, but none of my business.

All threads on WOS head in this direction...

Good luck...And for the record I never called you names, as much as I am not adventurous...

That sounds like a rude name... I think you need to go and shit on his ropes, both you and same day lamo can gang up on him and threaten him, cos you guys are the school yard bullys of this forum.....right?

thank god you are now Canada's problem, and I won't have to deal with seeing you here in this country!

There is a subtle but important difference between saying someone is acting like a dick and saying someone is a dick. You may not understand, however I choose my words carefully.

I can assure you that absolutely everyone who has met me (dozens) and damo (dozens) will think we are pleasant, helpful and humble people. I challenge you to find someone who disagrees. Like it or not, there is a vast difference between many forum users online attitudes and real life behaviors. Yeah, it's annoying, but that is how personalities work...

In the context of WOS, you have a lot to understand...

I agree with Damo's sentiments. Climbing is freaking amazing, exciting and sometimes terrifying, but in the end its still just people playing on rocks. We're not curing cancer or ending world hunger...;)

I really can't be bothered reading endless Yank forums. Anyone want to write the cliff notes version of this routes history?
