Hi all,
I'm in the market for a new car camping tent. Any suggestions welcome. My main criteria are as follows:
*Durable
*Good quality weather proof materials
*Really long (I'm tall, 6'4", and hate getting a wet sleeping bag from touching the ends of a tent).
*Large in size, at least a 3 person
Thanks

I've got an oztrail 4V classic dome, was cheap and has enough room for my 6'4" frame, its reasonably transportable in a car-camping sense and based on the 2V dome that proceded it, I expect to get 5 years of regular use out of it.

I've not had very good experiences with fibreglass poles. How sturdy are they? How about the floor, how does it stand up to a good soaking?

I'm from queensland, it doesn't rain here.
After 5 years of regular use, we finally broke a pole in the 2V dome whilst living at araps, a twig and some duct tape later and the tent is still being used by an international student friend of mine who we gave it to once we'd purchased the 4V.
For the price difference for something with aluminium poles, you can buy three of the cheaper tents.
I've never had any problems with water ingress with the years of use of the 2V or the single time that the 4V got wet, but don't kid yourself either, they're cheap, nasty, mass-produced chinese tents made to a price not to a quality. The only protection at the seams is cotton 'tape', not proper seam-tape or sealing. The floor is pretty light duty compared to something five times the price.

At the moment I'm thinking about something along the lines of the following:
REI Base Camp

Salewa Ambience V Tent
http://www.salewa.com/uk/4/258/4846-AMBIENCE_V_TENT.html
Any other ideas out there people?
