Hey guys! i just decided yesterday that i am building a campus board. I rent, so it has to be free standing. and i dont really know exactly what i am doing lol. However, i bought all the stuff:

So last night i framed up the marine ply, ready to start on the structure this mornin...

So this is how far i got. Only broke one drill bit in the process. :)

Lemme know that you think, and if you have any suggestions!

PS: anyone used or made a MOON Board before?

Looks good. It is a good idea to drill holes and install your tee nuts while you can still lay the ply wood flat on the ground as it will be a lot easier (mistake which I made with my first bouldering wall). If you are gluing as well as using screws glue will adhere a lot better to form ply if you sand the black film off first (another thing which I learnt through trial and error).

lol. thats the back bro. haha. i framed the marine ply. over-engineering?? i dunno, but the rungs will be on the other side. as well as the pinch grips, and slopers. :) rungs are going up the middle, based on Moon specifications... thats the plan anyways. i built part of the framework today, but ran out of wood. grrr

How are you going to support it? Campus boards should start at shoulder height min so It might be easier to place it end up starting at ground level and brace it accordingly like this one:

so more like a moon board. I think most MB instructions assume you can bolt it to something. I would have thought maybe you could still put rungs on amongst other holds but try campussing from a sit start :p

How are you going to warm up for your campusing?

Finished building my bouldering wall / campus board last week. 2.4 m wide and 3.1 high. Angle is adjustable between 30 and 50 degree's. Just need to tidy the garage to find the rest of my holds now.

The warmup is a little bit irrelivent, no offence. there are plenty of ways to warmup. This thread is more an informational gathering place to learn more about building a campus board.

The support for the structure is a short base A-frame. this has been extended to a box shape. Ill throw up a pic of how far i got before running out of batton screws.

Due to constraints with height, i need to make the whole structure on or under 9ft, so starting at shoulder height is not really an option. However, my current brainwave has got the wall starting at 450 then extending 2.4m of climbing surface. i have set 9 rungs now, and the first one starts at around 3ft off the deck. might work...

Anyways, i have a single pad width set of rungs set, and im wondering what size rungs to put on the other side, as my GF will be using the board too... what would be a good size for her to use? she climbs like 18's atm.

Anyways, here are the recent pics...

I don't like rungs that are too narrow ie less than shoulder width, but yours look ok. I assume you will put bigger rungs on the blank section to the right?

Funny as that was, and I'm literally trying to avoid coming apart at the sides (do you guys do the 'Your Momma' lines as well? I *LOVE* those), my question was just do you have other things to climb on to warm up properly, or are you going to be paying Julian Saunders for rehab in the near future?

There are ways to warm up for campusing on a campus board. Duh. But the important question is not how do you warm up on a campus board - the important question is how do you grade it?

Just pulling something out of ym arse:

v(number of rungs skipped)*((angle of board from vertical / 10)+1)*(5/(depth of rungs in mm))?
