Is this another use of the code word "climber" to avoid referring to base jumpers?
But Rodriguez Pass (near Evans Lookout)?

EMERGENCY services have rescued a badly injured man who fell while rock climbing in the Blue Mountains.

A man was on the Rodriguez Pass walking trail at Blackheath, west of Sydney, when he found the injured climber at the base of a 70-metre steep incline about 3pm (AEST) yesterday, police said.

The man walked a further 30 minutes to get mobile phone coverage and alerted emergency services.

"Blue Mountains Police Rescue and the NSW Ambulance Rescue helicopter attended the scene and were able to winch the injured man out of bushland and take him to Westmead Hospital," the police said in a statement today.

"It's believed the man is aged 35 and is from Cardiff.

"He suffered severe facial injuries as well as a broken leg and possible internal injuries."

Well its not unheard of base jumpers actually flying away from the point that they jumped is it?
If hes a climber the report suggests hes solo?
Maybe hes a solo bush walker frigging around?

I'd assumed that was the base of a 70m talus slope running out from the main cliff line - as is normally the case up here.

if you know rodrigues pass u know he was more than likely finding a way down (bushwalking) from the base of cairns walls and fell down dodgy steep cliff, unless like some one mentions he was soloing some BIG walls?
