It's probably not that different. If you fell unexpectedly and were not falling feet first, there's probably a certain amount of time that the average person would need to right themselves. The difference I reckon is that humans would need a much longer fall than cats and therefore landing feet first may not help much (splat).

Also cats are just better designed and practiced for jumping off big drops (relative to body length). I love watching my cat leap around. It's pretty impressive.
