Climbers rescued after Glass House Mountains fall

Two people have been winched off Mount Tibrogargan at the Glass House Mountains, north of Brisbane, after falling seven metres.

Community rescue helicopter spokesman John Hodges says a man and woman in their 20s survived the fall, then rolled another 10 metres down the mountain just after 7:00am AEST.

He says they both have fractured lower limbs but were very lucky .

"The guy had a mobile phone at least but it fell apart on the way down the fall," he said.

"He was able to back-track and find all the bits and pieces and put the phone back together and surprisingly it worked.

"Had it not worked, they probably would have still been out there."

Mr Hodges says the pair were able to call for help quickly.

"A man and a woman both sustained a suspected fracture to the lower leg, one leg each, and we were able to winch a paramedic in and put splints on the affected limbs and transferred them to road ambulance," he said.
