A close call on dodgy ice |

If you set off up a reasonably thin climb that is visibly pouring water, as that one is, then you're asking for trouble. I saw this on news.com.au, it's a bit of a media beatup that makes ice climbing look super dicey and dangerous to those who have no idea.
Those who have done some ice climbing would recognise that as the climber made a bad decision to set off up a route that was flowing water. The conditions were to warm for that climb.
I wonder if the climbers lead belayer (the guy at the bottom) copped a hundred kilos of slush on the head or not? |
