Mark,

I've been thinking along these lines a bit my self. I think I really need a goal to work towards. And for me it has to something pretty out there. I mean either very remote or very epic. Something I can look back on and think that that's something that only a handful of people have ever done.

The problem I'm having is thinking of a suitable expedition and committing to it. I have a great bunch of people to go rock climbing with but none of them are really thinking along these lines. For me it would be more rock oriented with a bit less of the snow and ice but you might be able to convince me. Not sure how many big trips I could do to NZ in prep. though as I have a non climbing wife and a baby due any time.

I climb indoors quite a bit. If you are in Melbourne, get in touch and we can meet for a gym session then go to the pub and talk more. Thu at Hardrock CBD would be best for me. One of the other guys I climb with is more into the cold stuff too.
