Hey Friday loafers,

Heading up country this weekend for some (apparently) cave dwelling. I've narrowed down the best options for climbing in the damp to - The Ravine (a couple of climbs here and there) and Sentinal Wall. I'm only talking mid range sport. Any other ideas in the northern Gramps?

Parka Man.

the mid-range sport climbs at the ravine don't really stay that dry mate, at lesat from when i went there. quite slimy at the top. harder stuff there which will be dry as toast, but it's 26/27+ from memory westie. consider the gallery which is super dry, but good routes all 24 plus.

I figured the top outs in The Ravine might be a tad slimey. The climb to the right of the cave looks OK at 17/18??

I've got some other possibles. Thanks A.

Cut Lunch Walls stays pretty dry, as does much of Van Diemans Land. Longer walk-in though...

Amnesty Wall (not too much of a walk either) stays dry in rain - especially rain and wind from the S or SW. It's also quite a bit steeper than it appears. Some nice sport routes. Some of the routes can even be climbed when they are wet - the pockets and jugs are so big. eg Tyrants and League of Nations climb well when wet - if fact Steve Chapman did the FA of LoN with water coming down the cliff! The 'shower' from Chinese Water Torture can be equivalent to rain too!
Grades from 22 - 25 on the main Amnesty Wall. Rob Booth's newish routes on the left wall are also surprisingly dry in heavy rain.... and they are the easiest at 20. Check out the ACA site.
