They,re dreaming. They ask if you want to be part of the consultation when they have a fee structure already in place. As if an individual in there right mind would pay.

Im not sure its for individuals. It is for disney guiding , pumping catlle with gopros over the precipice of adventure profile pics and yes.....they will pay. What they really need is an old angry lady with a stick throwing stones and yelling in mandarin if you dont pay. Couldnt be too hard to rustle that up in nth syd.

Pretty sure this is aimed at organised groups as some OH&S review highlighted a public liability issue..but has been implemented without really knowing the nature of individual activities in the area.
Cost more to regulate than recover in fees I would say, but maybe they can now say if you break a leg doing it..they are not liable as you didn't have a permit?

Neil Monteith contacted KMC and confirmed it is for professional groups only:
"I had a long positive conversation with a Jacob Sife from council this morning (after emailing them with my concerns). I stressed climbers concerns and he certainly understood them and gave a fairly reassuring reply about not wanting to 'change' the area with any fences, bolts or other infrastructure. All he proposed was a simple sign warning of the danger and a message about minimal impact. He said the fees only applied to commercial groups - so normal people did not need insurance, permits or pay a fee. He also emailed me with this brief message "As discussed, the site at Lindfield is only temporarily closed. In relation to fees for use, this has always only applied to commercial or large groups and has not changed."

Received an email from Ku-ring-gai council last week.
Very good news:
Ku-ring-gai Council is pleased to inform you that the inspection program and risk assessment process related to Lindfield and Wahroonga Rocks has been completed.
The process included consultation with Council’s insurer and has resulted in Rock Climbing, Abseiling and Bouldering being deemed a dangerous recreational activity pursuant to the Civil Liability Act 2002, Division 5 Recreational activities sections 5L and 5M. As such, Ku-ring-gai Council takes no responsibility for the use of its bushland for rock climbing, abseiling or bouldering.
PLEASE NOTE:
• Rock-climbing within Ku-ring-gai is conducted at your own risk
• Bolts and climbing infrastructure are not maintained by Council
• Climbing and abseiling are inherently dangerous activities

$12.80 per hour for zero people seems a bit steep. No one's going to pay that.
