Hiring a car would be the way to go. The peak district is likely to be sweaty in July on both grit and limestone.
I would recommend North Wales - say day 1 at Dinas Cromlech in Llanberis Pass - day 2 at Gogarth, Anglesey. These are classic areas with great character and history.
You will be fine with a single rope, 1 set wires, 1 set cams as long as you stay reasonably within your grade and choose routes that don't wander around too much.
Jeez ......... I miss Gogarth - multipitch quartzite above the crashing waves.
