Just to comment - those Kahtoola Microspikes are awesome for hiking over thin ice or hard-packed snow, especially when it's patchy cover and full cramp-ons would be ungainly.

Would they be suitable for glacier access and easy snow slopes, a la accessing alpine rock routes in the alps? Carrying even my light crampons sucked and I have no intention of going near any serious snowy stuff, it scares me silly. Although that particular pair of microspikes are way too big for me.

Hi Wendy,
they should be alright with some soft shoes/boots in icy conditions. not sure how theyd go in snow.
