Safer Cliffs Victoria is in urgent need of a new drill to continue our re-bolting work. Currently our drill (on loan from a local Melb climber) is nearing the end of its life only placing about 4 bolts per battery, which is really slowing the whole process down. We would like to purchase a new Panasonic Rotary Hammer drill model #EY6813NQKW which costs $1000.
To purchase this drill we need urgent funding. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and enquires can be directed to info@safercliffs.org
As a fundraising initiative Neil Monteith is selling professional A3 poster prints of many of his climbing photos for $30 each (+ $6 postage if required). All profits will be feed directly into making Victorian cliffs safer. To view the gallery go to

Hi Niel!
I'll take two of your posters, the HB sequence:

Email me your bank account details, and I'll deposit $66 into it.
I've enjoyed climbing a few of your routes (Centurian, Cut Lunch, Sentinal, etc), along with some of the new fixed pro at Arapiles, so I'm happy to contribute towards the cost of this. The effort you guys go to is appreciated.
Regards,
Goshen

This is a link to a photo of some of the bolts that Safer Cliffs Victoria has removed from popular climbs in the last 12 months. This is quite a collection of rusty and small bits of rubbish! All of these bolts have been replaced with stronger stainless steel bolts. The bolts in the photo are all full length - none have broken off in the hole. Some are as short as 4cm.

Please help to remove these timebombs from Victorias cliffs by donating to Safer Cliffs Victoria. Email us at info@safercliffs.org

What amount of money is a realistic / usefull donation ? Do you organise 'working-bees' at all ?
Cheers , John

Bolts cost betwen $5 and $10 each so any amount bigger than that is a useful donation! We don't do working bees as much of the work is carried out in semi-secret due to problems with bolting around the general public.

DONATION REQUEST!
In the last 18 months Safer Cliffs has fixed 121 separate climbing routes all over Victoria. Literally thousands of dollars has been spent on the replacement bolts, tools, worn ropes and the petrol costs that are involved in this laborious task. More than thirty weekends have been used up doing this work rather than climbing. Every small amount of money counts. If you can spare the price of a coffee or single gym entry fee that is still awesome. A $4 coffee pays for a single bolt, a $15 gym entry fee would pay for a complete rap anchor.
Currently we are about $500 in debt and without donated funds this work cannot continue.
It has been suggested that scheduled funds transfer via electronic banking could be a good way for people to donate to SCV. Think about it - would you really miss $10 a week? The money goes directly to the source - bad bolts and rap anchors in Victoria. If you don't want to donate cash then consider purchasing and donating equipment such as bolts, hangers and ropes. www.climbinganchors.com is a good place to buy this gear.
We can no longer work on larger scale projects as our drills and other re-bolting equipment have reached the end of their life spans. We would love to fix routes on Taipan, Spurt Wall, VD Land and Mt Buffalo - but we currently cannot. Every dollar counts!
Contact us at info@safercliffs.org to organize a donation!
Sincerely,
Neil Monteith - SCV

Today a new drill has been purchased by the SCV team, at a cost of over $1000, and is a huge financial dent to any future rebolting efforts in Victoria. If anyone has considered donating to the SCV fund then today is the day to do it! Any amount is appreciated - either contact us via email at info [at] safercliffs.org or donate in person to Neil Monteith if you see him at the gym or at the crag.
If you clip bolts in Victoria you have probably used SCV bolts. We have invested more than $4000 into directly replacing and repairing worn and rusted anchors throughout Victoria - on 154 separate routes at every major crag including Gramps, Arapiles, Camels Hump, Buffalo and the You Yangs. There is so much more work to be done in the future. Have you ever questioned the strength of a rusty bolt and wished it was a solid and silver? YOU can help with our rebolting work by donating money or bolts (purchased from climbinganchors.com).
Thanks to everyone who has donated in the past. We couldn't have done it without you!

Would Safer Cliffs consider opening up their forum to the general chockstone audience?
By doing that C'stoners might feel more included in the bolting issues that affect them and hence more likely to contribute funds.

Yep, its a simple at emailing us your Chockstone username and your real name. This security system is in place to block trollers from ruining sensible discussions about the serious issue of re-equipping and maintaining climbing anchors.
There is currently 145 registered members of the SCV forums - members consist of a whos who of Victorian and Australian climbing (excluding Hex!). If you have a vaild contribution then feel free to apply for access. The more the merrier!

Try checking out Ebay when looking for your new rotary hammer drill, I have bought new power tools of there for 20% of their recomended retail price. You can often find factory surpless or last years model of dewalt gear there very cheep.
Have you tried just looking for new batterys rather than a whole new drill?
