You describe the experience very well.

In fact it can often be a defacto relief, not only from the tension, ie similar to arriving at bomber pro opportunity,or because the 'fear' is over (like topping out)!!, but because after a fall this relief soon becomes surplanted by annoyance at not getting up it ... :- (

Yes indeedy.
The words may not have done it full justice (re others quickly getting your meaning), but I like the comparison you draw between the two types of falling experiences relative to time beforehand and percieved time of 'experiencing' the fall/s.
