all we're saying is that no-one will be giving any assurance that fixed gear is safe - there is just no precendence for it. The whole idea of being independant & making your own safety calls is one of the great things about climbing in areas like the Grampians. No-one wants bolts failing, but the harsh reality is that they do fail from time to time. Its up to the individual to decide whether they are comfortable trusting fixed gear. If you're not capable of making such decisions then you should not be rockclimbing in the Grampians. No-one gave any assurances about fixed gear or rap stations in the wake of major fires at Mt Buffalo in recent years, yet a lot of people seem to be climbing there without problems.
