I'm lucky in that my wife is also an avid climber, we are waiting the day when our almost 3yr old is old enough to listen to commands while camping. When this happens, we have our family tent and off we go. Certainly the key to this will be to climb with others, that way when one parent is climbing the other is doing the family thing. Then at some stage we all come together to climb with the kids.

A gathering of Chockstoners with Kids is a great idea James. There are a few of us out there.

It's a hard one about how far you push your kids. Certainly what I want is for my kids to enjoy the experience. I have come across one bad parenting exhibition while climbing with a Dad being quite angry at his girl (around 12 yrs old) for getting scared while on the cliff. It was not pleasant and I thought she was doing fantastic. It is simply best to encourage and backoff when they say no. I like pyschlollygy..cool
