I thought that would get your attention.
In making the final compilations for the forthcoming Central Grampians guide, I did something nerdy and wrote a macro to extract all the FA details, split them into separate names and push them into a spreadsheet. I was then able to sort the spreadsheet & see who was winning the 'competition'.
This was initially for some statistically interesting but esoteric discoveries, such as that there are more routes attributed to 'unknown' than all the people called Simon. (18 vs 13).
However at the risk of taking myself far too seriously I've turned up a number of unexpected 'issues'. Can anyone help with the following?
Alan Hope or Allan Hope - which is correct? (BA I know you're out there). (5 occurrences of the former, 21 of the latter)
David Schirra or David Shirra - which is correct? (4 vs 5)
Iain Sedgeman or Sedgman? (3 vs 16)
David Karia (i-a) or David Karla (l-a)? (3 vs 4)
Philip Armstrong I presume is one 'el' not two (191 vs 7)
Yours in historical accuracy,
Steve

There's only one 'e' in Sedgie! :-)
(And Sedgman.)
There's only one 'l' in Smiley!
(Unfortunately, I'm no longer sure about Alan/Allan Hope. This is a little embarrassing given how many years I maintained the VCC mailing list! However if I was a betting man I'd go with "Allan".)

And I'd put my money on with Watto, it was sometime after I met Smiley that I found out that he spelt his name with two l's )The Allan part that is, not the Smiley). And I'm pretty sure it is Karla and Philip not Phillip.
