Any & all advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
1/. $79 Parking Infringement ticket on a hire car outside my house when mine was in for repairs. I have a Resident Parking permit for my street. Ticket has a non-existent address though, can it be challenged?
2/. A dear friend in the country regularly has spotlighters at night and while they are shooting roos from outside her property boundary she has bullets flying across her front paddock and is left to deal with dead or dying animals and is also concerned for the safety of herself and cattle/sheep.
Answers on the back of a fifty please,
Cheers,
Andy P.

re shooters call police as illegal to fire over private property without permission this include where the bullets will go if they miss the roo also must have permit to shoot roos and unless they are part of the pet food trial for roo meat. The dead animals must be tagged and left where they are . It is very hard to get tags and usually in quite limited numbers and not many repeats .
Parking - letter probably won't work and fronting to court may have success but is it worth $79 to spend a day in the court ?

I agree with lacto Andy. Mention the shots to the police, they will not have the numbers to police it or do anything about it but local coppers usually know who the likely lads are and will send word around to "pull their heads in" and act with a bit more caution.
You may have to take the financial hit re the fine. Rather than go to court you could contact the council the fine was issued in. Prima facy you have a case but you will be dealing with a local council bureaucrat. These people are not really human, they do not have blood in their veins, are totally devoid of compassion, common sense and any sympathy for fellow man. That said they are not devoid of feelings, they love to see ordinary plebs (not that your are in any way ordinary at all) reduced to extreme levels of frustration and anger. Don't appease their desires and just pay the fine.
Also not a lawyer.

Thanks salty and lacto, much appreciated.
I may send a letter but aren't bothered too much about going to court over it.
Re: the spotlighters, ta, I'll let my friend in far east Gippy know.
Cheers,
AP.

I got one in my street for failing to display my resident's permit - it had blown off in the car. I wrote to the council and plead my case and they showed mercy and let me off. So it can work, if the letter hits the right notes of being respectful and appropriately remorseful, etc.
It certainly doesn't cost you anything to try (other than a bit of time). Probably depends a bit on your council as well.

It worked!
Just rec'd a letter saying the fine's been rescinded, woo-hoo. Just goes to show it was worth the cost of a stamp eh!

The quality of mercy is not strained.
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed
You gonna hit 'em for the cost of the stamp Andy ??
