Neil Monteith - East Coast High

Neil has ruffled feathers amoungst the climbing aristocracy for over 25 years, developing close to 1000 new rock climbs from Townsville all the way to Tasmania. His particular passion is multi pitches and bush-bashing, a combination that has led him to establish many routes that will probably never get a second ascent. In this presentation Neil attempts to convince others to go where others tend to avoid.

Neil recounts tall tales of three obscure adventure climbs that had to wait until the 21st century for a first ascent. Using a style he calls ‘make it up as you go along’, these routes emerged from inspiration to reality using jive ass engineering, sweat, blood and a lot of steel, both figuratively and literally. From stumbling up the vertical jungle of Mt Warning with climbers he had only just met on the internet, mining for good rock in the Warrumbungles whilst wedged in a chimney to riding a 70m vertical surfboard made of sand - these adventures show you can still have a total epic on a weekend away from Sydney.

Blake Thornton and Matt Gilsenan – surfers/snowboarders/ Sky divers / adventurers / (relatively) ordinary blokes

Former pro surfer and pro lifeguard, Blake Thornton, together with his snowboarding and skydiving chippie best mate Matt Gilsenan, have lived a life less ordinary, experiencing incredible landscapes around the world through their love of extreme sports.

Sharing clips from their upcoming TV show Chase That Feeling, the AT crowd will be treated to footage of big wave surfing in Tahiti, wing suiting in Iceland, heli-boarding in the Alaskan mountains, and other adventures in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Using high quality cameras, drones as well as action sports cameras, expect high quality footage and personal insights into what makes up these sports and the people who enjoy them.
