If you get a chance, you might want to send in a submission regarding possible road closures on Mt Wellington and/or a proposed cablecar .
Submissions close tomorrow, 26/10 (sorry about the late notice), but if you have a moment, your support would be appreciated. Can you give an indication of the suggested contents of the email? I lived in Hobart for a couple of years in the 90s and drove the road lots, would like to submit an email, just want to sound informed on the issues when I do.
The CCT response is in the members area so that is no help.

Word on the street is that it'll never happen and that a climbers' track is being built soon.

There is a draft review out on future use of Mt Wellington.Climbers are concerned that if any development takes place, such as a cable car (which is very contentious), access via the road will be closed or restricted - that is being suggested by local politicians etc as being one way a cable car could be financially viable.
If you are emailing, you might want to suggest that any future development is NOT at the expense of other mountain users, is financially viable and does NOT involve restricting access via the road or tracks in any way.
PS The new tracks you mention, Maxdacat, are up from the road to the main cliff - not much use if you can't get up the road!
